Abstract

In this work is presented details of assembly and operation of an experimental benchtop apparatus, designed to study the fluid flow in porous media. Also are commented the determination of porosity, permeability and saturation process of the core rock sample with oil. The apparatus is used to study the effect of water flow rate in the oil recover factor. The obtained results allows to verify that the operation of the unit will be realized with care andattention. The oil extraction is more efficient at lower water flow rates, although this require longer operation times. The values of oil recovery factor are according to reported in the literature, demonstrating that the experimental methodology adopted is coherent and was correctly applied.
