Macroeconomic effectiveness of aid: Impact on recipient´s economic growth

Abstract

The article reviews the specialized literature on macroeconomic aid effectiveness. More precisely, it considers those studies focused on measuring the effect that international aid has on the recipient countries´ economic growth. The analysis takes into account the approach and the statistic procedures applied by the most influential studies as well as the main results that they reach. The review pays close attention to those works published in the last decade.  Causes of the few conclusive results of this literature are discussed and the article tries to underline those conclusions that raise wider consensus. These conclusions should be taken into account by policy makers.
