Abstract

This paper starts from the premise of the unsatisfactory regulation of citizenship, such conclusion starting to enunciate a series of incremental challenges in order to make European citizenship a major status of European citizens. To this end, a number of technical deficiencies are designated, among which the double regulation of European citizenship protrudes in the Treaty of functioning of European Union and the Charter of the Fundamental Rights of European Union. It is proposed to complete some citizenship rights, and finally as a proposed ultimate goal, replace national European citizenship for a single European citizenship, an European federal citizenship.
