Abstract

This article aims to reflect how to implement the ideal model of the sustainable tourism in Europe in the 21st century from the perspective of law and social sciences. Therefore, the author applies a methodology of documentary sources of two news reports which are the basis for supporting the arguments on two models of sustainable tourism: on the one hand, preservation; and on the other, development. Indeed, a sustainable tourism is a double-edged sword that can be applied to both models, both being perfectly suitable. Thus, the author relies on a comparison of current economic situation; such as the convergence of European policies of austerity (preservation) or growth (development), to initiate the debate. In this way, this article reviews the main policy approaches that enable to restrict the sustainable tourism model for the preservation, as well as proposing the marketing measures to foster a model of development.
