Abstract

Since its adoption, the founding Treaties have considered the participation of the institutions they created in the Treaties revision procedures. This paper examines the role that institutions have played in these procedures, and furthermore, in particular, we will analyse in a chronological order the increasing participation of the European Parliament in this matter, in time to the European integration process. From the first moment, it certainly should qualify as unique and outstanding, the fact that the makers of the founding Treaties allowed those institutions that had just created to take part in the revision procedures, even if it only were during the proposal stage.
