Sociedad y relaciones de poder en una ciudad riojana a fines del Medievo : Santo Domingo de la Calzada

Resumen

La presente Investigación se centra en el estudio de una ciudad de La Rioja en los años finales de la Edad Media e inicios de la Edad Moderna. Se trata de la ciudad de Santo Domingo de la Calzada, cabeza de la merindad de Rioja y uno de los núcleos urbanos más importes de la comarca altorriojana en la Baja Edad Media. Con este objetivo se han analizado las relaciones de Santo Domingo de la Calzada con su entorno, especialmente en lo relativo a la conformación del territorio concejil, y se fia estudiado la organización social y la articulación del poder en la ciudad.

This research work focus on some relevant aspects of the social and political Ufe of the town of Santo Domingo de la Calzada of The Rioja duríng the last years of the Middie Ages and the early Modern Period. Santo Domingo de la Calzada was the head of the district of The Rioja and one of the most important urban centres of the geographical área of The Lower Rioja in the late Middie Ages. The study consists, on the one hand, in analysing the relations between Santo Domingo and the villages and hamlets of its geographical área, specially in those aspects regarding the formation of its municipalty, and, on the other hand, in studying the social organisation and the structure of power in the town.
