Abstract

In Spain, the credential ceremony is an effective instrument of political communication: on the one hand, it links the current representative of the Bourbon dynasty, with a long historical tradition; on the other, it relates it to Diplomacy, the highest level in international relations.

The value of the Spanish ceremony lies not only in the richness of its historical and symbolic elements, but also in its role as possible inspiration for other ceremonies, such as those that take place in some countries of the pan-Iberian space. The cases of Chile, Costa Rica, Guatemala and El Salvador illustrate us in this regard.
