This research analyzes the thirteen inauguration ceremonies of the five Lehendakaris that the Basque Government has had. Methodologically, a systematic study has been developed of the symbols and the ceremonial scheme that have been used in each inauguration of the presidents of the Basque Government, all of this analyzed to the light of the socio-political context of each moment. In addition, a historical work has been carried out on the evolution of this act, from the approval of the Statute of Autonomy of 1979 to the present. However, it is affirmed that the gestures and symbols used in certain official acts are chosen based on the political narrative that is intended to be constructed. From a broad approach, this research demonstrates the importance of ceremonial in current political communication.
