Abstract

This research develops ideas in the application of Discrete Ev en Systems (DES) simulation software for the optimization of Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS), t he DES have intent to identify systems in which events change in a discrete manner one after another, in specific instants of time. Although seemingly simple, DES can model many phenomena one application is the pro ductive process of a company for which the proposed development of a Simula tor with a graphical interface programmed in Java, supported by Petri Nets for represent the dynamic behavi or of systems and use it as a t ool for influencing productivity and competitive- ness of manufacturing companies, facilitating analysis of resou rces, planning and evalu ate different metrics re- lated with production times in th e system. The contribution of simulation software corresponds to an improve- ment for systemic quality that a llows companies to obtain produ cts at a reasonable cost, with increased flexibil- ity and more over optimizing resources.
