Abstract

The work is focused to comparing the influence of the friction models used in the simulation of grooves micromilling of Ti6Al4V alloy, by using the finite element method. A tridimensional cutting model was used, for carrying out the simulation process as realistically as possible, without losing computational efficiency. Cutting force predicted outcomes, though simulation, were compared with experimental values, which allow to determine the most convenient friction model and friction coefficient value. The cutting parameters influence on the prediction accuracy was also analyzed.
