Abstract

Current studies suggest that magnetic treatment has a positive effect on the behavior of combustion processes and causes changes in the physicochemical properties of the fuel. In the present work the effect of the magnetic treatment in the surface tension of the diesel was eva luated. For the magnetic treatment, a magnetic conditioner with 0,36 T of magnetic induction and a time of exp osure of the diesel to the magnetic field of 0,025 s was used. This treatment reduced the surface tension of the diesel by approximately 11%. With the re- duction of this property an incr ease in the depth and the openi ng angle of the fuel jet is achieved and the average diameter of the dispersed droplet s in the atomization process i s reduced, all of which conditions a significant ef- fect on the efficiency of the combustion.
