Abstract

The conceptual design is the first stage on the product development process and the most critical step on the seeking of a quality solution. In this article the Set-Based Concurrent Engineering methodology is used to guide the design process of a novelty product such it is a retractable steering wheel for autonomous driving vehicles. This methodology allows the obtainment of a large number of possible concepts and defines the restrictions of the system on an easy and in an effective way.
