Abstract

This article is an approach to the life and work of Italo Calvino, a figure who revolutionized the paradigms of 20th-century world literature. We will begin by exploring the author’s biography and intellectual trajectory, with the aim of investigating and interconnecting his ideas regarding the notion of the city. We will then move on to the culminating and central aspect of this research, stopping to consider and analyse the representation of the city in one of the author’s most emblematic and significant works: Marcovaldo, or the Seasons in the City (1963).
