Lingüística Sistémica Funcional: accesibilidad y visibilidad a través de lenguas, perfiles académicos y disciplinas

Resumen

Este artículo explora la accesibilidad y visibilidad de la Lingüística Sistémica Funcional (LSF) en contextos académicos y profesionales de distintas lenguas, perfiles académicos y disciplinas mediante un estudio basado en un cuestionario. Desarrollada por M.A.K. Halliday, la LSF ofrece un enfoque único y aplicable de la lingüística, posicionando el lenguaje como un recurso para la creación de significados. A pesar de su creciente influencia mundial, la LSF se enfrenta a retos de visibilidad, especialmente en contextos dominados por la lingüística generativa. A través de las respuestas de más de 150 participantes, el estudio revela una divergencia geográfica: Los académicos chinos tienen una mayor percepción de la accesibilidad y visibilidad interdisciplinar de la LSF, probablemente debido a las traducciones y al apoyo institucional. Por el contrario, los encuestados de fuera de China indican una visibilidad limitada de la LSF en las disciplinas vecinas. Este estudio subraya la necesidad de una colaboración interdisciplinar, mayores esfuerzos de traducción y mayores oportunidades de formación. Potenciando estos aspectos, la LSF puede ampliar su relevancia y accesibilidad dentro de diversos contextos lingüísticos y profesionales.

Jorge Arús Hita, Universidad Complutense de Madrid

Jorge Arús Hita, doctor en Lingüística Inglesa (2003), ha impartido docencia en lengua inglesa y lingüística en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid desde 1997. Sus publicaciones, que utilizan la Gramática Sistémico-Funcional (GSF) como marco teórico, incluyen artículos sobre descripción tipológica basada en corpus, lingüística contrastiva y enseñanza del inglés como lengua extranjera (EFL) en diversas revistas nacionales e internacionales, así como en volúmenes editados. Ha sido editor de estilo de la revista de estudios ingleses Atlantis y Vicedecano de Calidad, Innovación y Tecnologías en la Facultad de Filología de la UCM, donde anteriormente fue coordinador de e-learning.

Jorge Arús Hita ha participado en varios proyectos de investigación e innovación financiados a nivel nacional e internacional. Entre sus publicaciones, es coautor de Systemic-Functional Grammar of Spanish: a Contrastive Study with English (Bloomsbury, 2010, junto con Julia Lavid y Juan Rafael Zamorano), así como coeditor de English Modality: Core, Periphery and Evidentiality (De Gruyter, 2013, con Juana Marín y Marta Carretero), Languages for Specific Purposes in the Digital Era (Springer, 2014, con Elena Bárcena y Tim Read) y The Dynamicity of Communication below, around and above the Clause (Benjamins, 2016, con Ben Clarke). Christian M.I.M. Matthiessen es Distinguished Professor de Lingüística en la UIBE. Está graduado en Lingüística por la Universidad de Lund (BA), donde también estudió Inglés, Árabe y Filosofía, y en Lingüística de UCLA (MA, PhD). Anteriormente, trabajó en USC/Information Sciences Institute, la Universidad de Sidney, la Universidad de Macquarie, la Universidad Politécnica de Hong Kong y la Universidad Complutense. Junto con el profesor Jorge Arús-Hita, está implantando un nuevo Máster online en Lingüística Sistémico-Funcional en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, para estudiantes de todo el mundo. Forma parte del comité editorial de una nueva revista que aparecerá en 2024/25, Languages in Global Contexts (https://journal.equinoxpub.com/LGC).

La investigación, las publicaciones y la enseñanza de Matthiessen abarcan una gran variedad de áreas teóricas y aplicadas: los estudios multilingües, incluyendo la descripción de lenguas específicas, la traducción, los estudios comparativos y tipológicos; la comunicación médica, la lingüística educativa, la descripción del lenguaje, el análisis del discurso aplicable (incluyendo el uso de la Teoría de la Estructura Retórica), la cartografía registral, las artes del lenguaje, el lenguaje del espacio y el desarrollo de la teoría de la Lingüística Sistémico-Funcional.
