This article deals with the particular insignia of the President of the Portuguese Republic, that is, the so-called «Sash of the Three Orders», which is a representative symbol of his function as Grand Master of the honorary Orders of Portugal. The objective of this article is to study this unique insignia through its historical background, its evolution and influences, its characteristics and its legal vicissitudes to which it has been subjected since its creation. A topic of interest for specialists in ceremonial and protocol.
