Organizational adaptation of events due to COVID-19
The case of the Princess of Asturias Awards

Official and unofficial events have been affected, like other fields, by COVID-19. The new organization of these events for pandemic has been a challenge for ceremonial professionals, adapting to the protocols imposed by the WHO. An example of this has been the Princess of Asturias Awards held in 2020, where have happened changes in some areas of the official event. Investigating the organization and celebration of the Princess of Asturias Awards in its 2019 and 2020 editions, it allow for knowing how the COVID-19 pandemic and the health measures imposed by the Government have changed the protocol of the awards. Parameters such as the presidency, the precedence, the presentation of diplomas and awards, the headquarters, the number of guests and other protocol components, are investigated in this study.
