Phase shifting approaches represents important tools in whole field photoelastic analysis. There are many ways to change the phase of a photoelastic pattern. In this work one uses a four images method that requires only a plane polariscope and frame-grabber devices. Phase unwrapping algorithms, together with image processing routines, such as filtering, blurring and region of interest processing, are used to process photoelastic data. An application to a disc under compression was made.
