Abstract

The superficial roughness lately plays a very crucial role in the evaluation of the quality of products. The aim of this study is to investigate the cutting parameter effects in the AISI 316Lsupercial roughness using two cutting inserts. The cutting parameters were compared using analysis of variance and multiple regressions. As a main result it was obtained the significant effect of the cutting feed, the material of the inserts and the machining time, and interaction in the superficial roughness as well. For the GC1115 insert class the best performance4 was equal to cutting speed of 400 m.min-1 mean while the GC2015 was 450 m.min-1. The superficial roughness showed the best behavior with a feed of 0.08mm.r-1 in all the speeds used in this study.
