Abstract

Following a brief presentation on the evolution of the evaluation of international development  cooperation, the article describes the architecture for this type of evaluation  (the different types of organizations that carry out these evaluations and the networks of these organizations). The paper concludes with a discussion on challenges for future work in the evaluation of international development cooperation and it points out to opportunities that can be seized to address institutional, methodological, cognitive and evaluation capacity building challenges.  The opportunities that are identified are those related to the direct and indirect support from bilateral and multilateral cooperation, including South-South and Triangular Cooperation, as well as the stock of  evaluations of international development cooperation and evaluation methodologies that are available (several of which are referred to in the article).
