Abstract

In the sixties, as one more side effect of the stabilization plan, the doors of Eastern Europe opened to trade, though it was not until G. López Bravo became the minister of foreign affairs in 1969 that this particular Spanish "Eastern politics" finally bore fruit. As a result, trade agreements were signed and consular relationships with the countries of the area were made. The year 1973 witnessed a further step in the same direction, when the governments of Spain and the DDR formally acknowledged each other.
