Nikos Karagiannis, a young trade union sailor recently affiliated to the Communist Party, was one of the first Greek volunteers to arrive in Spain on October 6, 1936.This article tries to reconstruct the unknown history of the Greek volunteers who fought in the Spanish Civil War through his turbulent trajectory, their profiles, their ideologies, their motivations and their hopes. Likewise, through his personal history we try to reflect on why these volunteers did not narrate their memories and experiences and remained silent.
