The book Órdenes, condecoraciones y medallas de Cabo Verde[1], by Jorge Cólogan y González-Massieu, is the result of the research that the author has carried out about the Prize Law, both civil and military, in the Republic of Cape Verde. The Prize Law is the part of the legal system that regulates the granting of honors, distinctions and rewards awarded by the State in recognition of the very relevant merits or extraordinary actions of its citizens. All countries have this type of recognition and this work reviews those that are granted in the Republic of Cape Verde, a sovereign island state in Africa that became independent from Portugal in 1975.
