Abstract

In this paper the densification behaviour of sintered copper powder under uniaxial compression and hydrostatic compression was investigated using four yield criteria - Shima and Oyane, Doraivelu et al., Lee and Kim and a new yield criterion proposed by the authors -. The flow formulation for P/M materials has been implemented into the general purpose FEM code lform for the analysis of forming of sintered metal. The correlation between the theoretical and experimental results is critically analysed. The developed code lform is applied to simulate the sizing operation of a self-lubricant bearing to the automobile industry.
