Abstract

This article examines the attitude of the PCE to the Prague Spring, and his reaction to the invasion of Czechoslovakia by Warsaw Pact troops. Will be especially critical as how the performance of the Soviet Union made on that occasion, was inserted into a particular political course aimed at legitimizing the party in Spain. In fact, since 1956 the external and internal policy of the PCE had begun to follow divergent paths.

The events in Prague, therefore, put the PCE to the immediate choice between the requirements dictated by its national strategy and the obligations imposed by the discipline of the international communist movemen
