Las Masculinidades Compasivas: La Incorporación de la Compasión y la Autocompasión en la Salud Mental Masculina

Resumen

Este artículo propone un modelo conceptual de masculinidades compasivas, articulando hallazgos empíricos y desarrollos teóricos provenientes de la psicología clínica, la intervención comunitaria y los estudios de género. A partir de una revisión crítica y argumentativa, se analiza cómo la masculinidad hegemónica—caracterizada por la represión emocional, la autosuficiencia y la competitividad—afecta negativamente la salud mental de los hombres y refuerza estructuras de desigualdad. En respuesta, se plantea la autocompasión como una herramienta terapéutica y política para promover una transformación subjetiva y relacional que favorezca nuevas formas de ser hombre, más empáticas, equitativas y corresponsables.

El artículo integra aportes de la Terapia Focalizada en la Compasión (CFT), la Terapia de Aceptación y Compromiso (ACT) y el mindfulness en su dimensión ética, destacando su potencial para reconfigurar narrativas identitarias masculinas. Se subraya la relevancia de implementar estas estrategias en espacios clínicos, educativos y comunitarios, enfatizando el riesgo de instrumentalización neoliberal de la compasión si no se vincula con una crítica estructural. En conjunto, se ofrece una propuesta teórico-aplicada que permite trabajar la autocompasión masculina desde una perspectiva interseccional, decolonial y feminista, orientada a la justicia social.

Psicólogo clínico-comunitario. Máster en Neurociencia. Experiencia en intervenciones psicosociales en temas de género, masculinidad y salud mental. Trabajo tanto en el ámbito público como en el clínico, integrando enfoques comunitarios, de derechos humanos y de diversidad.
