Modelo de Actualización y Mantenimiento de la Autoestima: Resultados Preliminares

Resumen

Este estudio tiene como finalidad la contrastación empírica del modelo de actualización y mantenimiento de la autoestima (Duro, 2021b; 2023). Con una muestra de tamaño medio (N = 53), se comprobaron las siguientes hipótesis: si existe asociación entre componentes colindantes del modelo y si cada componente puede predecirse desde sus respectivos antecedentes. Como instrumento de medida se utilizó el CAMA (Cuestionario de Actualización y Mantenimiento de la Autoestima), que consta de 37 ítems, distribuidos en 8 escalas. Su fiabilidad según Cronbach fue α = .92, mostrando validez concurrente tanto con el cuestionario de autoconcepto RSCQ, rxy = .84 (p < .000) como con la escala de autoestima SSES, rxy = .78 (p < .000). Los resultados obtenidos apoyan ambas hipótesis: se obtuvieron correlaciones moderadas o grandes entre componentes contiguos del modelo, y la media de varianza explicada por los antecedentes de cada componente es del 67%. Conjuntamente, los resultados proporcionan indicios a favor de dos postulados principales del modelo: (i) la autoestima se actualiza en ciclos individuales de autoestima, y se mantiene en el tiempo mediante la interconexión de tales ciclos; y (ii) la autoestima es un constructo relacional entre dos representaciones del yo, el yo-modelo y el yo-percibido.
