La novela de artista y la reformulación de Ricardo Piglia en la sociedad del espectáculo = The artist novel and Ricardo Piglia’s reformulation at the society of the spectacle
The artist novels appear in literature written in Spanish language at the end of the nineteenth century. The most influential critical studies have focused on that period. This paper presents a review of the validity of Marcuse’s definition for the Latin American artist novels written at the end of the nineteenth century. This work explains also why Marcuse’s concept is inadequate for novels written at the end of the twentieth century and The absent city (1992) by Ricardo Piglia is proposed like example of the artist novel reformulation.
