How to Use Imagery for Healing PTSD You can create your own imagery and record it in your own voice so you can listen whenever you need it. You can use scripted imagery if you don't feel confident about creating your own. In a research study comparing the effectiveness of scripted imagery vs. imagery that was self-generated, both were found to work well, but the people using it seemed to have more confidence in the scripted imagery and thus, were more likely to stick with it. If you decide to use scripted imagery, you can work directly with a guided imagery practitioner or use guided imagery that has been recorded.
