Beauty giant Mecca has revealed the best-selling lipsticks across Australia - and why women are still buying makeup despite working from home during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Australian beauty retailer said there are eight products women buy again and again, and most of them won't break the bank.

From a $30 matte lipstick loved by the likes of Kylie Jenner to a sellout, universally flattering balm, FEMAIL shares the top eight products on the market - and why they are so popular.

With an impressive 4.7 star rating online, the lipstick boasts a host of glossy fans including Kylie Jenner and many other celebrities.

With a deep rose undertone, the shade is a nude that suits and flatters many skin tones, with hundreds of women online saying it's their 'desert island' beauty product.

The $30 product is slightly less warm than Velvet Teddy, making it perfect for olive-skinned women. 

3. Nars Afterglow Orgasm Lip Balm, $45

While this product isn't technically a lipstick but a lip balm, it's still the third best-selling product at Mecca.

'My lips feel moisturised and nourished. The colour is the prettiest pink and lifts the natural colour of my lips so well. I think I'll be buying a few more colours!'

While very vivid and bright, many love the fact that it stays put for hours on end, giving a lasting, solid red colour. 

Ruby Woo has a blue-toned, matte colour and boasts fans including Taylor Swift. 

Many who have tried it say one of the best things about it is that it helps to make your teeth appear whiter.

5. Lipstick Queen Frog Prince, $38

One of the more unusual products to be featured on the list, Lipstick Queen's Frog Prince lipstick, $38, is a household favourite for many.

The cult product might appear to be green within the packet, but the bullet will go from green to the warmth of your lips when you apply it, resulting in a pinky-rose hue.

Frog Prince also has vitamin C and shea butter infused into it, meaning it can keep your lips hydrated as well as looking their best.

Dolce Vita has a sheer finish with a warm plum tone to it, and more than one reviewer has said it is the 'exact shade I was looking for'.

'Hands down my favourite makeup product, and an absolute essential for me now,' one person wrote.

7. Hourglass Confession Ultra Slim High Intensity Refillable Lipstick in At Night, $58

The final - and most expensive - product on the list is by the French pharmacy brand Chantecaille (pictured)

The refillable gold applicator houses a creamy formula that saturates lips in long- wearing colour, while the slim shape means you'll never apply your lipstick outside of the lines.

The At Night shade is a red colour that is closer to red wine than solid, bold red.

8. Chantecaille Lip Chic Camellia, $61

The final - and most expensive - product on the list is by the French pharmacy brand Chantecaille. 

But with an impressive 4.8 star rating, the product really delivers according to reviewers, who say it's perfect for giving a stunning, 'off-duty' makeup look.

'Chantecaille is a beautiful brand and the Lip chic lipsticks are exceptional,' one woman wrote.

'Highly moisturising with a lovely glossy finish, these lipsticks apply so easily and are such great colours.'
